Nurture children's curiosity

Use children’s questions as opportunities for connection and confidence. You don’t need all the answers! When in doubt, try: “What a great question! Let’s find out together.” The chart in this resource offers practical suggestions in the “Consider…” column to guide respectful, sensory-based food discussions.

Young children are still learning to identify foods and building comfort with new tastes and textures. It’s important to reduce pressure to eat, which can cause anxiety. Familiarity and choice create trust.
