Ingredients
60 mL (¼ cup) quick oats
125 mL (½ cup) milk
Pinch of salt
1 tsp each of toppings, such as raisins, berries, applesauce, sunflower seeds, or milk
Cinnamon in a shaker
Directions
The mixture will puff up in the bowl as it cooks, so watch that is doesn’t boil over.
Measure oats, milk, and salt into a bowl. Stir to combine.
Microwave on high for 1 minute. Use oven mitts to remove bowl. Stir.
Microwave on high for another minute. Let cool slightly, so that it is not too hot.
Have students mix in the topping of their choice.
NOTES: If you are making more than one bowl at a time, you will need to increase the cooking time. The mixture will puff up in the bowl as it cooks, so watch that is doesn’t boil over.
